Concerto
K and I went to a concert last night and were blown away. Now, we’re not the “concert-going” folk. In fact, our last concert of this magnitude was over 7 years ago. This time it was a Jars of Clay + Third Day + Michael W. Smith gig. We didn’t stay to see MWS… we cared more about getting some ice cream and turning off the clock on the sitter.
Well, not really. After Third Day’s turn we knew there was NO WAY Smitty could compete so rather than leaving on a low note, we left on the total high note. I haven’t really liked the Third Day albums that were not worship style, but if you get a chance to see Third Day live, drop everything and go! Next one is Kalamazoo Oct 12 or Saginaw, MI on Oct 13. They’ll have David Crowder Band along then.
As for Jars, they kicked things off. Or rather, then started the noise: I was immediately reminded of the last concert I was at (they opened then too). I forgot that they suck live. I absolutely love the layers of sound they wrap into their songs on albums, and they definitely bring new spins on their songs up on stage. It’s just that if had caught them yawning on stage, it wouldn’t have suprised me. Maybe “energy” is not their thing, but Dan’s voice didn’t seem to even be warmed up, and that took about 5 songs. Grrr… I love these guys for their art, their performance wreaked.

Oh baby.
I can’t speak for any of those bands, but I can vouch 100% for Crowder. If you ever get the chance to see ‘em live: GO!

Really really cool stuff with the live DJ and all.
